EVIDENCE SEARCH

Ontario Provincial Police Temiskaming Detachment Community Services Officer Constable Renee Taylor confirmed by telephone that an evidence search took place in Cobalt at the Glory Hole tourist attraction on Friday, July 25, along Highway 11 B at the south end of town. The search was conducted by an Urban Search and Rescue team (USAR) not located in the Temiskaming area. The Glory Hole is an abandoned pit that is said to drop down 250 feet, with water filling part of the hole. Constable Taylor said the evidence search is part of an ongoing investigation. She did not have any further details about the investigation nor would indicate what was found. The evidence bag carried by the plainclothes officer (on the left) in the photo indicates something was found inside the Glory Hole. (Staff photo by Sue Nielsen)
