U18 hockey hits the rinks this weekend

Hockey fans can take in two U18 tournaments this weekend in Temiskaming Shores.

The New Liskeard Lions will host their Northern Ontario Hockey Association “A” Tournament of Champions March 31-April 2.

The Lions will play the West Nipissing Sting and Iroquois Falls Stingers on Friday (9 a.m. and 3:40 p.m.); and on Saturday versus Kapuskasing-Hearst at 10:50 a.m. and the Sault Ste. Marie Majors at 7:20 p.m.

Sunday’s playoffs are at 9 and 10:50 a.m. with the gold medal game at 3:40 p.m.

All of New Liskeard’s games are at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena.

Meanwhile, at the Shelley Herbert-Shea Memorial Arena in Haileybury, the RTMI U18 Girls host the Northern Ontario Women’s Hockey League (NOWHL) championship.

RTMI will play at 10:10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday; and Sunday at 9:50 a.m.

The playoffs are at 2 and 3:20 p.m. on Sunday.
