Search for missing snowmobiler suspended

QUEBEC (Staff) – The search for a missing snowmobiler at the north end of Lake Temiskaming has been put on hold until conditions improve.

The search was suspended March 15, said Sergeant Nancy Fournier of the Sûreté du Québec in an email yesterday (March 21).

Fournier said search efforts have been suspended until spring due to the very large ice cover that remains.

Police say the missing snowmobiler, a 49-year-old resident of Quebec, was last seen on the lake alone on a snowmobile on the evening of March 11.

Police have not disclosed the man’s identity.

To date, she said, police have not found any significant clues or traces of the missing man.
