Remains identified as those of missing city man

TEMISKAMING SHORES (Staff) – Police have confirmed that human remains found in Casey Township were those of a missing Temiskaming Shores man.

Gregory Dunn, 68, had last been seen in Haileybury on the morning of May 18 and was reported missing that night.

In the following days, members of the Temiskaming and Kirkland Lake OPP detachments, the OPP canine unit and the OPP aviation services participated in the search.

Shortly after 9 p.m. May 23, police were called to a location in Casey Township where human remains had been discovered.

A post-mortem was conducted by the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service on May 28 in Sudbury.

Police then identified the remains as those of Dunn.

Police say investigation by Temiskaming OPP with the help of the OPP Crime Unit and the Forensics Identification Unit is continuing.

In a news release, police thanked members of the public for their assistance.
