Making a splash for Civic Holiday weekend

HUDSON LAKES (Staff) – The 74th annual Hudson Lakes Regatta will be taking place on the Civic Holiday Weekend, August 5 and 6.

Organizers say the event will be happening come rain or shine.

The event is being held to bring together cottagers and residents of Bartle, Fairy, Pike and Twin Lakes.

The Pike Lake park will be the scene of a morning four-person volleyball tournament on Saturday morning, with semifinals and finals.

Saturday evening will see, and hear, a floating sing-along in the middle of Fairy Lake.

The fun will start again on Sunday morning with a morning boat parade and prizes.

Through the day there will be a craft table, a two-person triathlon of swimming and canoeing around Hawkins Island. There will also be a barbecue organized by the Ecole secondaire catholique Sainte-Marie soccer team players to raise funds for their 2024 trip to Hawaii.

There will be a horseshoe tournament, a contest for artwork and baking, swim races, a cannonball contest with a prize for the biggest splash.

The afternoon will see a tube race, canoe and kayak races (bring your own canoe or kayak), a mini-marathon swim, lawn races, an egg toss, and a tug-of-war.

There will also be numerous contests and prizes.
