Kayaker missing in Temagami region

 

TEMAGAMI — A 66 year-old man, travelling by kayak, is missing after he was reported four days over his estimated arrival date in the Temagami backcountry.

Peter Morgan left Whitefish Bay on Saturday, August 6 and hasn’t been seen or heard of since.

He is four days past the time he was to finish his trip, say the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Mr. Morgan was travelling Route #6, which is the Diamond-Wakamika-Obabika Lake Loop in the Northwest arm of the Temagami region.

Police say they have dispatched a marine unit and a helicopter to assist in the missing person investigation.

He is listed as 6 foot, one inch, between 200 and 220 pounds travelling in a red/orange kayak with a yellow gold tent.

He is described as an experienced kayaker and outdoorsman.
