KIRKLAND LAKE (Staff/Special) — Hydro One has notified the public that a hydro outage is now occurring for some customers served by the Kirkland Lake operations centre.

A total of 1,719 customers are being affected in Otto, Matachewan, Pacaud, Grenfell, Nicol, Eby, Benoit, Marquis, Lawson, James (Elk Lake), Maisonville, Chown, Boston, Matachewan First Nation and Tudhope are being affected by the power outage.

The power outage first occurred at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday, January 21 and Hydro One estimated that the outage will last until 5:30 p.m.

The reason for the hydro outage is unknown at this time.

A hydro crew is on its way to respond to the outage.

Hydro One reminds all members of the public to always stay clear of downed power lines or equipment. Never assume they are safe to approach.
