Freezing Rain Warning

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring. A band of freezing rain and ice pellets is expected to develop as temperatures drop behind a cold front this evening. Two to 4 hours of freezing rain is likely. The band is forecast to set up from Gogama to Kirkland Lake this evening and move southward throughout the night. Freezing rain warnings will likely be extended south into the Sudbury and North Bay areas later today. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
