Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Kirkland Lake – Englehart
  • New Liskeard – Temagami

Freezing rain is expected to begin early Monday morning and may

continue for 2 to 4 hours before the temperature rises above

freezing and there is a change to rain. Surfaces may become quickly

covered in ice and continue to be hazardous even when warmer air or

rain arrives. All areas will warm up and the ice will melt near noon from Elliot Lake, Sudbury and towards North Bay and a change to rain is expected. The freezing rain will end early Monday afternoon for regions farther north including Chapleau, Kirkland Lake, Kapuskasing and Timmins where there is also a changeover to rain.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Road closures are possible. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
