Charles Edward Taylor

Charles Edward Taylor, 88 years of age, a resident of New Liskeard, Ontario, passed away on December 27, 2019, at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury, Ontario.

Charlie was born in New Liskeard on June 5, 1931, and was the son of Ethel and James Taylor of New Liskeard where he excelled as an athlete competing in both hockey and as quarterback of the school football team.

He worked for many years as a manager at Northern Telephone until his retirement in 1991 at the age of 60. He was a boater and fisherman and enjoyed his many days on Lake Temiskaming in his boat affectionately known as “Charlie’s Angel.”

“Charlie Brown” was an avid curler and served as the president of the local curling club. In his later years he enjoyed watching sports, most notably his favourite teams, the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Blue Jays.

Charlie is survived by his two sons, Jim (Anne) of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and Ron (Judy) of Kitchener, Ontario; his five grandchildren, Tyler, Tori, Craig (Tracey), Aaron and Ryan (Nicole); as well as his three great-grandchildren, Madison, Max and Benjamin. Charles is also survived by his sister Ruth and was predeceased by his brother Howard.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of both the Temiskaming Hospital and Temiskaming Lodge for all the attention and care they provided over the last two years.

The family is extremely grateful to Charlie’s long-time friend Mike McArthur of New Liskeard for all of the special assistance he has provided in taking care of him in his later years.

At the request of Charlie, no formal service or viewing will take place. Donations may be made in his name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
