THUNDERSTORM WATCH
New Liskeard – Temagami
Issued at 13:46 Wednesday 19 August 2015
Conditions are favourable for dangerous thunderstorms to develop from mid afternoon to this evening. Some of these thunderstorms may be capable of producing very strong wind gusts and torrential rain. In addition, there is also a risk of tornadoes. Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Rapidly rising rivers and creeks can sweep away bridges, culverts, buildings, and people. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
