DISTRICT (Staff) — The City of Temiskaming Shores has advised the public that the City and Harris Township have lifted their fire ban that has been in place since August 8, 2025.
The Township of Coleman and Town of Cobalt have also lifted their fire bans.
Although open air fires are now permitted, the Fire Departments of the region would like to remind everyone to use extreme caution when burning.
Only burn when it is coolest and calmest and keep your fire small and in control.
You are not allowed to burn grass, garbage, plastics, rubber or anything that will cause excessive smoke.
Be mindful of your neighbours and where your smoke will travel after you have lit your fire.
Check the particulars of a burn permit for the municipality you live in and stay with your fire, taking full responsibility to make sure you keep it under control and fully extinguished before you leave it.
