DISTRICT – Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Hazards says Environment Canada.  Wind gusts up to 90 km/h. Up to toonie sized hail. Heavy rain leading to total rainfall amounts of up to 50 mm over a few locations. This weather s system is expected to begin this afternoon and evening bringing scattered thunderstorms this afternoon ahead of a cold front. Some of these thunderstorms may reach severe thresholds. Local utility outages are possible. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.
