TEMISKAMING SHORES (Special) – Some visitor restrictions are in place at Temiskaming Hospital as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak.

The outbreak was declared January 28 after two or more in-patients experienced symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, enhanced infection control measures are in place, and temporary adjustments to care partner/visitors are now in effect until further notice.

The hospital advises that:

Masks are required for all care partners visiting patients in the medical surgical department. One visitor at a time is permitted.

Unlimited care partners may visit patients who are in palliative care, at risk of imminent death, under medical assistance in dying, at the end of life or at risk of imminent death. Two visitors are permitted at any one time.

Two designated care partners may visit pediatric or adolescents under the age of 16 while they’re in hospital. Both may visit at the same time if they’re from the same household.

If a loved one is in isolation, appropriate personal protective equipment will need to be worn as instructed by staff during your visit.
