DISTRICT – As of last night (Sunday, June 18), a 2,300-hectare wildland fire north of Lady Evelyn Lake was not yet under control.

The fire, named Kirkland Lake 5, was spotted June 7, and remains the only active fire identified in the Temiskaming area.

Across the Northeast, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports there are 19 activ fires.

A restricted fire zone across almost all of Ontario remains in place.
