Sexual offence charges

COBALT – A Cobalt man faces charges related to sexual offences involving a young person.

Temiskaming OPP say an investigation had begun into alleged sexual offences reported to have occurred between March 16 and May 13 in Cobalt.

On May 27, the OPP’s Temiskaming Crime Unit, Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and Digital Forensic Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on West Cobalt Road.

A 55-year-old from Cobalt has been charged with luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunication; transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 16; indecent exposure to a person under 16; luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication; and two counts of voyeurism.

Vehicle theft, plus

ENGLEHART – Investigation into a stolen vehicle resulted in multiple charges for a Charlton-Dack resident.

Police received a call about a stolen vehicle from Tenth Road in Englehart shortly before 8 p.m. May 29.

Officers patrolled the area but found nothing.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. the next day, a traffic complaint was reported on Highway 65 East in Temiskaming Shores. Police say they located the vehicle in a parking lot a short time later.

A 39-year-old resident from Charlton-Dack was charged with possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime; six counts of operation while prohibited; operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine); failure or refusal to comply with demand; and failure to comply with probation order.

TEMISKAMING SHORES – Police are seeking information as they investigate a break-in at an Armstrong Street South location in New Liskeard.

A variety of items were stolen sometime between April 27 and May 4.

They include two apartment-style fridges, 18 serving beepers, a Sanyo stereo, a Mastercraft mitre saw, a Black and Decker jigsaw, a Sirius radio and docking station, and a debit machine.

Estimated value of the stolen items is $2,000.

Impaired charge

EARLTON – A teenager was charged after police responded to a traffic complaint on 11th Avenue in Earlton shortly before 10:30 p.m. May 26.

A 17-year-old was charged with operation while impaired, with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg/100 ml.
