TEMAGAMI (Staff/Special) – The Ontario Provincial Police report that Highway 11 has now reopened.

It had been closed since a three-vehicle collision near Temagami shortly before 10 a.m.

An Ontario Provincial Police officer was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a police cruiser was struck head-on.

The injuries were suffered during a three-vehicle collision on Highway 11 near Temagami Tuesday, January 12.

Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police report the crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m.

Police say a northbound tractor-trailer unit lost control and crossed the centre line.

An oncoming southbound automobile is reported to have avoided the tractor-trailer by crossing the centre line, and then struck the northbound OPP cruiser.

The Temagami Fire Department and Nipissing Ambulance Service were at the scene.

The police officer was transported by ambulance to hospital and was treated for injuries described as non-life threatening.

Police say the automobile driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

OPP technical traffic collision investigators and Ministry of Transportation enforcement officers are assisting with the investigation.

Highway 11 was closed at Highway 64 at Marten River and Highway 65 at New Liskeard as police investigated the collision.
