Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the Temiskaming Shores and Temagami areas.
What it describes as a “highly impactful winter storm” is reported to be likely Wednesday evening into Thursday.
Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 centimetres are forecast, with peak snowfall rates possibly exceeding five centimetres per hour.
The major winter storm may affect portions of Southern and Northeastern Ontario. Environment Canada advises people to avoid travel if possible.
