Environment Canada issued a winter weather travel advisory for the Temiskaming Shores and Temagami areas at 6:41 a.m. today (Monday):
Reduced visibility due to a combination of snow and blowing snow are forecast, with snowfall amounts of five to 15 centimetres and strong wind gusts up to 80 km/h.
Conditions are expected to continue this morning into this evening. Snow will at times be heavy with reduced visibility.
Conditions may be particularly dangerous as a sharp cold front moves through this afternoon or early this evening which could produce near zero visibility in bursts of heavy snow and blowing snow along with a sharp temperature drop.
A frontal snow squall warning may be required as the cold front draws nearer. Due to the general high winds expected, these winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Power outages are also possible. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Avoid travel if possible. If you must drive, be prepared for areas of poor visibility.
