In an update for the Temiskaming area, Environment Canada issued the following weather and winter travel advisory at 6:15 a.m. today (Wednesday):
Heavy snow is expected, with an additional seven to 15 centimetres to come through early Thursday morning.
A low pressure system is bringing snow to the region. Heavy snow is expected to continue today before easing overnight.
Snowfall rates of up to three cm per hour are possible at times.
In addition, wind gusts up to 50 km/h will further reduce visibilities in local blowing snow.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Road closures are possible.
