NEW LISKEARD (Staff) – Students at Ecole secondaire Catholique Sainte- Marie in New Liskeard got a jump on the long Labour Day weekend this morning, Friday, September 2, as classes had to be cancelled and school buses and parents notified due to a water/sewage backup in the school.
Richard Loiselle, the communications director for the Conseil scolaire catholique de district des Grandes Rivières, told The Speaker in a telephone interview at 11:30 this morning, the last buses to pick up students are at the school and “ (clean-up) crews are on place at the school and everything will be back to normal on Tuesday (September 6).
Classes started this week for schools under the Grandes Rivières’ board.
The other schools under the three other boards in The Temiskaming Speaker’s circulation area begin classes Tuesday, September 6.
