Environment Canada issued the following weather advisory and winter travel advisory for the Temiskaming area today (January 4):
Rapidly accumulating snowfall with amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres expected by Wednesday evening. Snowfall rates of up to three centimetres per hour are possible at times.
A developing low pressure system is expected to bring a large swath of snow to the region. Light snow is expected to begin late this afternoon or early this evening before quickly intensifying tonight. Additional snowfall amounts are possible Wednesday night.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Road closures are possible.
