Snowfall Warning

New Liskeard – Temagami

Issued at 15:35 Tuesday 05 April 2016

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected. 15 to 25 cm snow expected Wednesday and Wednesday night. A low pressure system approaching from the west is expected to bring a significant April snowfall to Northeastern Ontario Wednesday and Wednesday night. Snow will move in by early Wednesday morning and become heavy at times. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are likely by Thursday morning, with locally higher amounts possible in a couple of locations. Brisk northeasterly winds may also result in blowing and drifting snow in exposed areas. Driving conditions will quickly deteriorate once the snow arrives. Motorists should adjust their travel plans accordingly. Latest indications suggest snow will continue into Thursday with additional amounts possible before slowly moving east out of the region by Thursday night. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
