MISSING PERSON IN SPRING LAKE

DISTRICT – On Wednesday May 20, at approximately 8:15 p.m. members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call to Spring Lake due to a vessel that had capsized.

The Temiskaming OPP, the OPP Marine Unit, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), and the North Bay and District Ambulance Service also attended the scene to assist.

Investigation indicates that at approximately 7:00 p.m. four men set out in a canoe to go fishing. For reasons unknown at this time, the canoe capsized and three of the four occupants safely returned to shore.

A 23-year-old male of Stouffville is currently not accounted for. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) will be attending to assist with this ongoing investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
