DISTRICT — The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) say the North Bay 32 fire, located 12.5 kilometers west of Latchford in Kittson Township, east of Lady Evelyn Lake, is not under control.
They say there is no imminent threat to any structures (homes or cottages) at this point and aerial and ground crews are working to suppress the 40-hectare fire that was reported on the evening of Monday, August 1.
Six MNRF ground crews are presently working to establish a perimeter around the fire.
While smoke has been reported in surrounding communities of Latchford, Cobalt and Temiskaming Shores, MNRF say the smokey conditions will continue while the fire is being suppressed.
Any persons in those areas with urgent health concerns relating to smoke can contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
MNRF remind the public when travelling in the area near the fire to proceed with caution as visibility may be reduced and to be aware of fire crews.
HIGH TO EXTREME
The MNRF say the forest fire hazard in Northeastern Ontario is high to extreme and to be extra cautious at this time.
