COBALT (Staff) – A special memorial project will be held at the Cobalt Veterans Cemetery in Haileybury on Remembrance Day, November 11.
Many of the veterans’ graves will be marked with enclosed candles to create a visual ceremony of respect and remembering in the afternoon and evening of November 11.
The project has been organized by Ken Riley of Ottawa whose father and uncles rest there. Others with loved ones resting there have also contributed to the project.
Riley is a former resident of Cobalt and will be present on November 11 for the ceremony in Cobalt followed by a visit to area cemeteries including the Cobalt Veterans Cemetery.
Riley hopes the project will grow in the future, and be taken up by someone else who would like to help it continue in the years ahead.
