An MNRF aerial suppression unit, otherwise known as a water bomber, flew over the southeast shore of Crosswise Lake on May 23, dumping water on the North Bay 5 fire. The MNRF had several ground crews on site as well battling the blaze whipped up by high winds. In the wake of the wildfire, several municipalities in Temiskaming have since issued a fire ban.
