TEMAGAMI (Staff) – Traffic is being slowed down on Highway 11 south of Temagami due to remediation work to remove a rock hazard in the area of Hornet Lake.
At 12:15 p.m. Fidelity, who has been working to mitigate the hazard, announced that it would allow traffic to pass alternately on one lane.
Fidelity has been in communication with the Temagami town office as the issue has been addressed.
The highway was closed at approximately 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 30, and reopened to one lane just after noon.
Fidelity advised the township this morning that “an emergency full-highway closure” was put in place at Hornet Lake “to protect the travelling public from a potential rock fall hazard.”
The location of the closure is approximately 22.6 kilometres north of the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 64.
