At 11:10 a.m. today (Wednesday), Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch Kirkland Lake through Temagami.

It reports:

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.

“Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon.

“The main threats are large hail and damaging winds.

“Motorists should be prepared for sudden low visibility in heavy downpours from a thunderstorm.

Thunderstorms are expected to move to the east of the region into Quebec this evening.”
