TEMISKAMING SHORES (Special) – Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police are informing the public that the ice road between Manitou Landing and Bear Island has not been officially opened.

“Due to ice conditions and weather, it will be blocked off at both ends with barricades,” said Constable Renee Taylor in an email Tuesday, February 9.

Big cracks and water have been observed, she said.

Snowmobile use is considered risky and is strongly discouraged.

Bear Island residents, cottagers and visitors are urged to refrain from using the road until conditions are safe.
