Honouring Ron Rivard

Blood donor clinic in New Liskeard August 30

TEMISKAMING SHORES (Staff) – A blood donor clinic will be held August 30 at Riverside Place in New Liskeard, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It’s in honour of the late Ron Rivard, who died in 2015.

The Earlton man had been a committed blood donor, and supported efforts by his wife Sylvie Cormier-Rivard to press for the restoration of local donor clinics.

“Although Ronald never received blood during his battle with cancer, he was an avid blood donor,” said Joanne Drake, Canadian Blood Services’ territory manager, in an email.

“He understood how valuable and vital blood and blood products are to treat various illnesses and save lives.

“Ronald was most happy when he was helping others and making a difference in someone’s life.

“You can make a difference too by becoming a blood donor.”
