Surviving World War II Vets

SPEAKER SEEKING PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE

DISTRICT — Since the millennium, The Temiskaming Speaker has conducted interviews with World War II veterans. Most of these interviews were published in The Speaker’s annual Remembrance Day tabloids. These previously published articles will be put together for a book the paper plans to publish in late summer to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
During the past six months The Speaker has contacted our various local Royal Canadian Legion branches to verify names of local surviving World War II veterans.
We realize that not all surviving World War II veterans in our area belong to the Legion, so we are asking the public for their help in making us aware of any other surviving World War II veterans living in our area.
They can telephone The Speaker at (705) 647-6791, extension 239 or email us at gord@northernontario.ca
