Rainfall alert

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Kirkland Lake, Englehart, Temiskaming Shores and Temagami areas on May 17:

Shower and thunderstorm activity affected many portions of Northeastern Ontario last evening and during the night. The activity has tapered off this morning.

However, another round of rain and possible thunderstorms is expected later today and tonight.

This rain is expected to last until late in the day on Thursday.

Rainfall amounts of up to 50 millimetres are likely, although some areas that see several thunderstorms may receive higher amounts.
At this point, it appears that the highest amounts are most likely for areas close to the eastern shores of Lake Superior, especially tonight.
