ENGLEHART — The Englehart Area Artists (EAA) have done it again. Their “Something To Say” exhibition was launched Sunday, August 29 at the Englehart and District Historical Museum.
The exhibition, features big, bold and colourful works of 14 artists who belong to the EAA.
There are currently about 20 members in the club, said EAA President Berdina Beaven.
Many of the pictures in the exhibition have an accompanied story or poem beside the work of art, explaining the artists thoughts, or what they are trying to say with the painting.
One of the artists featured in the exhibition is Lionel Venne, who explained the show is an annual exhibition created by the EAA, and this year’s work is a combination of mixed media and a variety of painting techniques that will delight and surprise the viewer.
There are pieces done using collage and lots of paintings done using acrylics.
The show is on exhibition at the Museum until September 14 and everyone is encouraged to see for themselves what the EAA have “Something To Say.”
ABOUT EAA
The Englehart Area Artists group was formed in 1989 and elected Alice Sawicki as their first President. They established a constitution and then met once a month on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
The objective of the club is to inspire, help, develop and discover, to stimulate and help identify and resolve problems pertaining to artists.
The club has a logo designed by member Victoria Leroux and a banner painted to resemble the colour wheel.
In 1990, the EAA became a member of the Northern Ontario Art Association (NOAA).
The EAA have contributed their talents to the surrounding communities by painting murals on walls, host art and yard sales, garden and art shows and Christmas Art Tours.
They have donated paintings or volunteered time to various clubs and organizations and have hosted instructional painting sessions with the seniors at Northview Nursing Home in Englehart.
The club has invited other artists to workshops and have held a number of group exhibitions, solo exhibitions and entered various competitions.
The work of the club members can be found adorning the walls of area restaurants, medical building, museums and shops.
In the coming weeks the Englehart Area Artists will display a Juried Art Show at the Museum and offer an Art Tour featuring their member artists at work in their own personal studios at various locations in and around Englehart.
