The Timiskaming Palliative Care Network is hosting two sessions about health care consent and advance care planning next week.
Health care providers of all stripes are invited to a daylong workshop May 15 at Riverside Place.
A session for the general public will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Guest speakers are lawyer Judith Wahl and André Hurtubise, a Temiskaming Shores doctor specializing in care of the elderly,
Health care workers have obligations under the Substitute Decisions Act and the Health Care Consent Act, said Betty Smallwood, manager of the Timiskaming network.
The public too can benefit from information as they make plans for themselves and discuss care-related issues with their families, she said.
Admission to both events is free.
However, health care workers must register for their session by May 10 by emailing bsmallwood@kdh.com.
