Dye testing at Hound Chutes

Temiskaming Shores – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) advises the public that on Thursday, October 11, and Friday, October 12, crews will be performing dye testing at the Obermeyer Weir, the spillway at Hound Chute Generating Station on the Montreal River as part of OPG’s maintenance program. Hound Chute Generating Station is in good condition and has been safely generating low cost, clean, renewable hydropower since 1910.

The yellow/green dye solution used to perform the test may be seen in the downstream waterway. This product is not classified as environmentally hazardous, which means that it is safe to use in rivers, lakes and other public waterways.
